Dear ISMMS members and friends,
During this stressful and uncertain time, the ISMMS Executive Board would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and healthy time while the pandemic runs through the world. We know this is a difficult time for many people around the world, and we want you to know that you are in our thoughts.
As an organization our job, in its simplest terms, is to share research and scholarship on metal studies through our website, Twitter, Facebook page, and through our support of conferences and publications around the world. But at our heart we are much more than scholars—we are people who are part of a community who not only love metal music and culture, but also love to share our experiences and stories about metal with each other. So, during this time we would encourage you, if you have the urge, to share on the ISMMS Facebook page how your engagement with metal has changed over time, maybe even because of the COVID19 pandemic we have all had to deal with–nothing too long or detailed—it might just serve as a way to get our minds off of some of the bad things going on in the world.
