Abstract |
Tampa, Florida's Obituary has been a death metal institution since 1984. Guided by the inhuman, if not unfathomably deranged vocals of John Tardy, the obscenely brutal guitar tone of Trevor Peres and rhythmic brilliance of drummer Donald Tardy, Obituary defined heaviness throughout the 1990s. Their 1989 'Slowly We Rot' and 1990 'Cause of Death' studio albums are undisputed classics, but their live prowess and unwavering dedication to their fans made them one of the metal underground's most respected bands.An unexpected five-year hiatus starting in 1998 only saw Obituary's stature grow when a new generation of bands adopted their sonic trademarks. Founded in 1989, metal band Sentenced was a pioneer of Finnish heavy music. The band’s melancholy tunes had a universal appeal that spoke to audiences far further afield than just in their native North, with more than a million records sold worldwide. Over the course of their sixteen-year long career, Sentenced toured Europe and North America extensively.
The story of these Northern Ostrobothnian (anti)heroes takes them on a wild ride through early teenage bravado to ludicrously absurd and profoundly tragic twists of fate. “Sekä puhumiseen että riemuitsemiseen pätee sama perussääntö: näitä tehdään vain kun on oikea tarve. Valittamiseen ja murehtimiseen riittää toki vähempikin.”Vuonna 1989 perustettu Sentenced oli suomalaisen raskaan rockin uranuurtaja. Melankoliasta voimaa puristanut yhtye vetosi muuallakin kuin Pohjolassa, ja sen levymyynti hipoo maailmanlaajuisesti miljoonaa. Kuusitoistavuotisen uransa aikana Sentenced teki lukuisia kiertueita Euroopassa ja Pohjois-Amerikassa. Vankka suosio Keski-Euroopassa teki yhtyeelle tutuksi muun muassa Berliinin ja Dortmundin klubit sekä festivaalit Saksan Rock Hardista Hollannin legendaariseen Dynamo Open Airiin. Euroopan laitoja yhtye kolusi aina Lontoon Astoria-klubilta Roomaan ja Osloon, joista jälkimmäisiä bändi muistaa kiertueuran pahoina paikkoina. Euroopan lisäksi lähinnä Yhdysvalloissa kiertänyt yhtye nousi viimeisellä ulkomaankiertueellaan vuonna 2005 lauteille myös Moskovassa ja Mexico Cityssä, missä mukana laulava yleisömassa sai keikkapaikan seinät tutisemaan ja lopettamispäätöksen tehneen bändin jäsenten silmäkulmat kostumaan.Pohjoispohjalaisten teinipoikien uhosta alkanut tarina on täynnä poskettomia käänteitä ja syvää tragiikkaa. Abstract |
This research deals with the origin and development of the culture of Metal music in the city of Lima, and how adolescents of that time began the construction of a musical scene and the construction of an identity as individuals and as a community. The initial development of this urban culture took place during the 1980s, a period that was disastrous for Peru, where there was a chaotic context at the political, social level; economic; terror, suffering and above all uncertainty about the future. Between the bombs, death and destruction – facts generated by armed movements – the culture of Metal began to take shape, having as protagonists this group of adolescents; largely as rebellion and rejection about what they had to live. It was a society they did not want to be in. Based on different cultural manifestations (bands, fanzines, concerts, organizations) they began to build their own world, culture and identity. This identity is revaluated and becomes more powerful today when compared with the new generations of metalheads; who, based on the use of technology and a generally more favorable context, also try to participate in this urban culture. |

Abstract |
This study has been oriented, to identify the benefits of the qualitative method of the theory built on the different aspects of feeling and thinking of the Metaleros1 in the city of Lima, in order to analyze their impersonal relations with society. In this sense the following objective was proposed: to understand why the social life individualization, the cultural commodification and the music fetishism is reproduced in the feeling and thinking of Lima’s metaleros. An in-depth interview was conducted with 23 young adults and metaleros between aged 14 to 48 years old as a range or limit, which resulted in a non-probabilistic sample. Two conceptual categories were identified: Rockandad and Metaldad, which serve to give interpretation to the problematic raised. In addition, a conceptual theoretical instrument called pyramidal dialectic was elaborated, to give way to the explanation of the research carried out. |

In this regard the following objectives: Understand that reproduces the individualization of social life, cultural commodification and fetishization of music, the feelings and thoughts of the metalheads of Lima. Use of depth interview which was applied to a nonrandom sample of 23 youth and adults metalheads (14 to 48 years as age ranges or limits). The Rockandad and Metaldad, which serve to give the interpretation to the issues raised: two conceptual categories identified. And finally a conceptual theoretical instrument called pyramidal dialectic was prepared to give way to explaining the research. |

Abstract |
Este estudio estuvo orientado a identificar las bondades que tienen el método hegeliano en los diferentes aspectos de la política y la música con la finalidad de analizar su relación. En tal sentido se planteó los siguientes objetivos: determinar la relación entre la política cultural neoliberal2 y la música heavy metal3, analizar su desarrollo y sus características. Se hizo uso de la encuesta y la entrevista los que se aplicaron a una muestra no probabilística de 30 jóvenes (de 18 a 35 años de edad) metaleros de Huánuco. Se identificó tres generaciones: 1era. Generación de Metaleros 1990-1996 (tesis); 2da. Generación de Metaleros 1997-2003 (antítesis); 3era. Generación de Metaleros 2004-2010 (síntesis). Se evidencia la existencia de una contradicción dialéctica entre la música heavy metal (la cual forma parte de una subcultura) y la cultura dominante en el mundo (en este caso la política cultural neoliberal), ambas evidencian una relación directa no solamente en el aspecto cronológico, sino en el plano ideológico. |
